I had a 7600 then an 8600gt (one burned out from having too much dust and I was upgrading from the other) and I wanted something a little better but under $100. I was told buy someone at bestbuy (first problem right there) that the geforce (BFG) 210 would be a good upgrade over my 8600gt. Boy was he and I wrong!!! I thoight because it was one of the 200 series it would perform well but it barely will play WoW on my pc.

Anyway, I am going to return this card today and get another, are there any cards close in price ( I paid 74.99 for it) that are better? Even if they are an older series that fine I just want to go back to BB (only place in town here that sells cards) and pick up something better. I usually just play WoW so any card that can actually run it at a decent level is fine.

I am buying/building a new PC in feb or march but would still like to use this one until then and as a back up or extra after so I don't want to put too much extra $ into it.

Any suggestions would help.

tried looking for benchmark scores but I didn't find much for it I just know all the reivews on it say its no better than intergrated graphics. Wow is not too graphic heavy (i use lower settings on it anyway) but I want to be able to play it with decent FPS, for around 75-85.

Yes, you were lied to. A 210 is extremely weak for gaming about the same as an 8400 GS. In that price range you should be looking at an HD4670, 9600GT or 9800GT. I recommend ordering online from newegg.

Being stung by an Nvidia rebrand is good enough reason to buy ATI next time.

Do yourself a huge favour and wait 2 days until the new 5670/5650 is released.

To be fair the Geforce 210 is not actually an example of Nvidia's rebranding schemes. It is based on a new processor that is 40nm and dx10.1 compatible. The problem is simply that it sucks for gaming.

Yes I suppose you are right. Nvidia's 100's number really does make people think they are getting something a lot better than what they are though, ie anything 200-series must be good compared to everything else.

I guess but its always been that way on both sides. 8800 GTX >>>>> 9400 GS, HD3870 >>>>>>> HD4350, ect.

thing is I wanted to return the card to best buy to get my money back and in the same visit get a new one. Im ordering an entire PC from new egg with the 5890 (i think thats the highest one) but I just wanted something in the similar price range with better performance.

The 210 is by far the biggest pile of xxxx I have ever used. I almost wanted to put my old 3dfx VooDoo card back in for better FPS!

I think the 9600 and 08 are around the same price aren't they?

And yes the 200 really did fool me, I had no idea it would perform like my onboard 6150!

Ok there are probably an awful lot more on Nvidia's side then. :p

I mean it's kinda hard to go lower than the 3870 nowadays with ATI, but you can still go a lot lower than the 8800gtx on Nvidia's side.

Wait 2 days, the brand new ATI's are due and if nothing else they will force a huge price drop on the low end nvidia g200's.

Waiting to check out the HD5670/50s isn't a bad idea. Just spotted this on newegg however;

It's open box but it's a heck of a deal. The card is a bit better than a 9800GT but cheaper than an HD4670.
