Hi I was wondering if you guys could help me with this one. At my old parents house, they had a computer they said I could have. They told me it had an AMD semoron processor on a k7 motherboard. That's all I know about it, so can you guys help me out and tell me if I upgrade the processor, which ones the motherboard will be able to handle? Thank you so much, I really appreciate it.

The K7 is a old AMD CPU generation u can see all the information about that here.

For the upgrade we need know the exact model of mobo that the rig has but I think that u won't have much options since is a old generation and the CPU available will be expensive.

Thanks for the heads up!

Ok so we found out the model is: M2N6B-LA
They said it was a stock mobo from Compaq
I looked it up and got this:

They say:
Socket type: AM2
TDP: 89 watt
Motherboard supports the following processor upgrades:
* Athlon 64 X2 with Dual Core technology up to 5600+ (up to 89 watt)
* Athlon 64 less than 4000+
* Sempron less than 4000+

Is this correct?
Oh and they told me it has an AMD Sempron CPU right now.
