Hello all, I hope I have the right part of the forum for this.
I've recently purchased the following hardware:
GIGABYTE GA-H57M-USB3 Mobo Intel Core i3-550 Clarkdale 3.2GHz APEX AL-D500EXP 500W Radeon HD 4850 512MB Western Digital Caviar Black 500GB LITE-ON CD/DVD Burner Kingston HyperX 2GB 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600
Now that that's out of the way, I'm attempting to install Win XP and the install will get to the screen where it says "Preparing Installation, Installing Devices, etc..."
Well, it gets to "Installing Devices", the bar gets about 3/4 of the way through, and BAM!!!
The specific error is IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL.
I've swapped every piece of hardware I can, I've tried one stick of RAM at a time, I've tried every BIOS setting imagineable... I'm out of ideas here. I keep reading on how this error relates to a bad driver.... Windows isn't even installed yet so that cannot be the issue.
I'm just about at wits end here, short of RMA'ing the mobo and RAM.
More aboutirql error driving insane
Your cpu and mobo support onboard graphics. Try installing your os without the 4850 gpu installed. If that's successful add your discrete gpu after.
I've tried that already, but thanks for the reply.
In a shallow attempt, last night I tried to install Vista 64. Guess what, it went though the first time w/out any troubles. I'm going to try WinXP with SP4 slipstreamed and see if that works.
