How do i know the highest ram frequency for my motherboard ?

Hi,

My friend has a :

Motherboard : ASUS A7N8X-LA
processor : AMD ATHLON XP-2800+ (2.08 GHZ)
graphic card : ATI RANDEON 9200 (128 mo)

his ram memory is :

256MB DDR PC2700 CL2.5

He wants a boost in ram memory, how hight can he go ? 1GB, 2GB ?
And please expland why :)

It supports 2GB memory max.

2 GB (PC manufacturer's maximum memory may differ)
However,it has 2 dimms and some manufactures don't make 1GB PC2700 RAM(in order to use 2x1GB), so make sure you buy a brand that has 1GB PC2700 RAM.

you could just toss all that and gt the cheapest am3 Motherboard with ddr3 and save headache with that old hardware
!
