I am currently running a Corsair 750tx for the current setup.

i7 920 @ 3.8ghz
12gigs DDR3 OCZ Platinum 1600 (7-7-7-20)
2x Intel SSD X-25m in raid 0 80gig
WD 1TB Black storage drive
Asus P6T
Asus Xonar D2x 7.1
ATI HD 5970 @ 800/1200
Samsung DVD-R/W
Coolermaster 932 case

I guess my main question is I am noticing flickering and my system has been as of lately randomly just shutting down. Is my Corsair 750tx enough for the job or should I be looking at the 850, 950 or 1000hx?

That 750 should be enough as a 5970 calls for a 650w PSU or better, especially since it is a corsair PSU but it may be pushing close, an 850w PSU from corsair or another good brand may be in order... though, i would do some thorough testing first.

The Corsair TX750 is more than enough to power a system with one ATI Radeon HD 5970 video card.

Here are the official power requirements for the ATI Radeon™ HD 5970 video card.

ATI Radeon™ HD5970 System Requirements:

PCI Express® based PC is required with one X16 lane graphics slot available on the motherboard

650 Watt or greater power supply with one 75 watt, 6-pin and one 150 watt, 8-pin PCI Express® power connectors

850 Watt power supply with two 75 watt 6-pin, and two 150 watt, 8-pin, PCI Express connectors for ATI CrossFireX™ technology in dual mode

The power supply recommendations are for an entire pc system.

I always seem to get flickering on my second monitor no matter what the settings are. I've been seeing this no matter what driver version I am running. Yes I am doing clean driver installs too.
