Forum Motherboards & Memory : Memory [help]combining ddr3 with server ram

So here's the dealio.

cpu: i7 920
mobo: asus p6t deluxe v2 (it has six dimm slots)
ram: 6 gigs of OCZ ddr3, 2 gigs per stick. and here are the specs on my ram.

"PC3 12800 8-8-8 @ 1.65v OCZ3G1600LV6GK"

In bios I had my DRAM Frequency set to Auto.

SO, turns out my boss lets me take home some leftover server ram.

specs on server ram: "2GB 2Rx8 PC3 - 10600E - 09 - 10 - E0"

i pop them in, and hope for the best. computer recognizes 12gb of ram. windows boots up fine, about 5 minutes go by and BAM. blue screen. happens so fast I can't read what it said. so immediately my first instinct is to go into BIOS and change some kind of dram setting. I change the DRAM Frequency to DDR3-1066MHZ, reboot and everything is dandy. no errors.

But heres the thing- there's no noticeable change in performance. nothing negative nor positive.. so being curious i load up speccy and under RAM i see this: "12.0GB Triple-Channel DDR3 @ 535MHz 7-7-7-20"

535mhz? geez. more detailed:

Type DDR3
Size 12288 MBytes
Channels # Triple
DRAM Frequency 523.5 MHz
CAS# Latency (CL) 7 clocks
RAS# to CAS# Delay (tRCD) 7 clocks
RAS# Precharge (tRP) 7 clocks
Cycle Time (tRAS) 20 clocks
Command Rate (CR) 2T

anyways... I have more info if needed, but basically..

what do I need to do here to get this ram to work together well? or is it just not going to happen? please help! thanks!

ecc registered buffered ram won't run on desktop pc's. I found out that first hand. You probably have plain ecc ram, which may run. I have mixed 1098 mac pro ddr3 with 1066 ddr3, and they run fine together. Funny thing is instead of running at the slower speed, it defaults to the 1098 speed unless I set it manually to 1066.
