I currently ordered 9800GT this one : http://www.bestdirect.ca/products/?sku=224342&kw=asus%209800
Sadly I ordered all new parts for a new computer but this part is back ordered and i have a choice to just wait, or I'll just pick something else. (from www.bestdirect.ca)
I built a good pc in my eyes for under 800$ (mind you canadian)
I game but not a serious gamer, honestly I play Sims 3 and Aion.
But I'm a design student and I'm on adobe programs a lot. (if that even matters)

POINT being, should I leave it be or get another GPU for under $130(or around)?

thanks

im a lady...not a he.

my specs are:
ASUS P7P55D
Intel Core i5 750
1TB SATA
Corsair XMS3 4GB
Coolermaster Extreme Power Plus 600W
ASUS GeForce 9800GT (600MHZ 512MB 1.8GHZ DDR3 PCI-E VGA HDMI DVI Video Card) <-- dont know if that matters

Solution
^ They are simply suggestions. Since he said around $130CAD I am simply offering my input of the cards for that price both of which give a significant performance improvement over a 9800GT. If you are going to spec the money you are going to want all your options on the table.

lol if that is all u play id stick to your budget and stay with the 9800 gt but most people here are gamers i think and so its hard for them to pass up a better 1 for a little more money especially to future proof themselves. You should take into account though the changing market in regards to DX it might be worth paying the little bit more for that it all depends how much you like gaming.

dont listen to them. 9800GT is perfect for you and it does not run @ 95C ROFL!! and! you can play many games max at 1680x1050 wihtout AA though. Not all but sims you can max out with 8xAA 1680x1050 and all that.

I am getting sick of this guy's trolling. How can he say a thing like that to someone with more experience. I know he is a kid and someone said we should give him a break, but there might be people there who will base their purchases on his stupid advice and that is not something to ignore.

dude, summin most have been wrong with your 9800GT seriously. 95c thats way to high for a card like that. I think. Its not even a high end card and! My HD 4650 could run some games @ 1680x1050 max settings no AA. And I run all games like that with my GT 230 which is a rebranded 9800GT... So 9800GT should handle that.

For 130$ others have way better solutions and you say 'Don't listen to them... listen to me I'm a 15 year old who knows better than these guys with their whole useless experience'

If I were the OP I'd go back and read Jay2Talls first post again. If the budget is $130, don't be afraid to spend it. The GTS250/5750/4850 would be better cards then the 9800GT. We still don't know the OPs resolution, but I believe Aion can be a taxing game from what I remember. If you want to max it out at 1680x1050 including AA, I don't think a 9800GT will cut it. And seeing as you play at least one RPG, there might be others coming that you want to play that will be even more demanding.

I doubt the GT 230 is a 9800GT. Assuming the GT 240 is a better card then the GT 230, its not.

The 9800GT has 112SP, while the GT 240 has only 96. This puts it more like a 9600GSO, and the GT 230 is probably weaker then that.

thank you guys >_< im gonna change it to the 250 GTS and to clear things up i play at 1280x1024, next question is does it make a massive difference, 512mb to a 1gb?

Usually more memory is more of a benefit at higher resolutions. Sometimes AA benefits as well. If it is only a few bucks difference, I'd go for the 1GB version, but if it's a deal breaker, don't worry about it. You might see a frame or two improvement, but it is mostly defendant on the game.

I have only one thing to say about Okini. He is 15 and is considered a troll.
Now regarding the others that replied to you, you can see from their sound advice their level of expertise.

I hope you get the 250, because if you get the 9800GT you will just waste money.

A GT230 is weaker than a 9600GT.

nope. Go for the cheapest one. 1 GB will only give a LIL bit more diffrence when gaming @ higher than 1680x1050. Cos GTS 250 aint ment to play games at 1920x1080 anyway. So yeah. Go for the cheapest and if they are the same price go for 1GB obviously.

1GB on a 9800GT is a waste of memory. Even a GTS250 or 4850 can't use all that RAM.

aye.

Who's that actress in your avatar? Reminds me of a cross between Zooey Deschanel and that staring-at-camera girl on youtube. :pt1cable: :D
