I am just reading up on how this works and saw that a pink coloured file is
a duplicate. It doesn't say whether it is safe to delete these or not? This
file is in my downloads folder. It says you can safely delete hacks but not
anything about duplicates?
Sorry to start asking questions again,
Beck.

Some things show up as duplicate that you may want to have.
Others you can delete.
If it replaces a default then keep it. (this is usually a hacked object)
If it is the same thing then delete it.
I see it most often with the maxis downloads.
lots (houses) that I have downloaded sometimes include the maxis downloads.

It is always safe to delete anything in the downloads folder.
You just will not have it in the game anymore.

Hmm, I think duplicate means you have 2 of the same thing. A hacked object
is not going to show up as a duplicate, it will show as red. Of course, I
keep all my hacks in a separate folder too. When I did the scan, I got rid
of all the duplicates. Mine came from downloaded sims from the exchange
which tend to use the same custom parts, also gotten at the exchange.

Oh ok. You know how a picture comes up when you click on the name of it,
well I click on the pink one and (most of the time) the one below it, the
pics look exactly the same. Does this mean it is just like an exact copy?
I have never downloaded any lots or houses. I only get skins and objects, so
I am not sure how I got the copies, maybe accidentally added them twice?
Just wondering.
Thanks for the reply )
Beck.

See my response to Davybear about the duplicates.
I wanted to suggest to you that you keep objects, floors, walls, hacks and
terrain paints in subfolders within your downloads folder.
That helps keep things a bit organized for searching later. Plus you can
choose just one of those folders to scan thru the program and it won't lock
the program up as much :)

I have some hacks that have the same GUID as the original file.
The new file overrides the original code.
It will also read as a duplicate.

An example:

christianlov_adultsDOHOMEWORKformykids
Shows up as a duplicate.
It also shows up as red.

Any cloned object can show up as a duplicate if the creator neglected to
change the GUID.
This part works similar to the way it worked in The Sims (Original).

Just read your other reply. I have everything in subfolders except skins and
the 2 hacks I have. So I am guessing the duplicates are skins? I will go
through and get rid of the duplicates I think.
Thanks for the reply,
Beck.

So you put your hacks in a separate folder and scan that instead.
If the creator neglected to change the GUID, then it will replace the
original and if that happens, then I remove the clone from my game.
