Computer Doesn\'t Recognize CD rom for reboot

i have a gateway e series 2300. i replaced the harddrive. i also upgraded ram to 2GB. now when i try to reboot the OS the computer doesnt find the cd drive. there is a message- cd/dvd drive not found

Double check the cables that attach the CD drive to the motherboard.
