AMD 965 BE system vs. i7 930 system.

Which system would you choose. Both systems are the same price. Factor in future proofing.

I plan on going crossfire in 8-16 weeks, and adding another hard drive. Both the systems cost 1250...but because the amd is cheaper, it allows me to get a 5850 gfx card instead of the 5770. BUT its going to be running a 965 BE instead of an i7
 
It depends on what your doing,

Gaming, the AMD setup would win as it has a better gpu.

Rendering or cad, Core i7 would win as that cpu had 8 threads to process data and the triple channel memory would give you the widest bandwidth to the ram for those memory intensive apps.

And maybe some extra saved money as well. :)

If the i7s drop when Thuban releases and you (OP) save a little bit you can get a nice GPU to go along with the beautiful 1366 setup.

Or flip side maybe Thuban itself will tickle your fancy.
