7970 ghz edition overclock question??

after running numerous tests on my card i was sure it was stable, however after running battlefield 3 for an hour or so and at the same point in windows startup when the welcome logo appears, the computer will freeze in the case of the windows logo, and crash when in battlefield. After doing numerous tests using ati tool and msi kombustor, i had no crashes or artifacts, so would i be right in saying its the memory clock that needs to be reduced, and that i can rule out the gpu core clock being the issue??

Kombustor/furmark is very light on RAM so i would lower that first

I have the same problem as well.
I really cant overclock my 7970
