hello, if your not going to be using it for gaming or anything like that i wouldn't bother getting anything above a radeon hd 5670. they are fairly cheap and will suit most needs, and will probably suffice most games.

ati currently have a far wider array of dx11 cards, so id stick with them for now,

Please list the mainstream professional applications you will be using. The choice of video card will depend in part on your applications and what you will be doing with them.

Graphics and video processing are cpu and memory intensive rather than gpu intensive. Scientific applications are a mixed bag.

Since you are building an Intel Core i7 860 system I'm guessing you will not be doing something that would require a workstation and a professional video card. Such a card can cost thousands of dollars.

just give a budget and do you game at all
