Are you asking of an intel g31 motherboard will support a 9400GT video card?

What interface is the 9400GT that you're looking at? Can you link us to the card and your motherboard?

You shouldn't have any problems using a 9400GT on a G31 board. Of course, I'm not sure why you would bother. If you want to use the 9400GT for gaming, sure it's faster than the onboard video of the G31, but your only upgrading your gaming experience from still picture to slide show. Still not fun  .
