I decided to overclock my CPU (Ivy Bridge 3570K) as far as it would go on stock volts, but after reaching a pretty decent overclock on air cooling I realised that nothing I actually use on a regular basis comes even close to using all that processing power. So I decided I'd drop the voltage down as low as I could get it and apply minor overclock instead and later on when I need to use more processor intensive programs I'll reapply the overclock. So according to CPU-Z this is what my processor's running at:
Offset mode,
At idle, 1.60GHz on all cores @ 0.672V
At max (e.g. during stress test), 3.9GHz on all cores @ 0.972V
It's particularly the idle voltage I'm not sure about, can you damage a CPU through undervolting it?
