The card was never intended as a consumer product. Only 1,000 were made. Was only intended to grab some headlines and allow nVidia to beat their chest a bit for what they had accomplished.

I noticed they have it listed with this info:
Dual GTX285
.23% faster than generic GTX295
.World's first 4096MB & 1024bit Graphic card
.Limit Edition with Unique Serial number
.The Fastest Graphic card on earth

If the 5970 is 40% faster than the GTX295, how is a card that's 23% faster than a GTX295 now called the fastest card on earth?

A 5970 would still slaughter the card. If it was available at $1,200 then you would get better performance at have the price.
However, facing the onslaught of the 5000 series they could use it as a potent card (with the right pricing).

Because the 295 is the equivalent of dual GTX 275's. And the fact that this card came out before the 5970. Now the 5970 is the fastest GPU on the planet...

That makes no sense. Of course I know the answer to my question, this card came out before the 5970, so at the time of that add, it was the fastest.

If you knew the answer to your question then why did you ask in the first place?

you are not making any sense ;)

It was editted. I didn't see the 2nd part of that when I originally read it. Of course some how when I clicked on quote, it grabbed the editted version. Woups.

It was a last ditch effort in case as single HD5870 beat a generic GTX295.

The thing that makes me laugh is the seriousness they put into that description while saying 4GB and 1024bit memory. [:thegreatgrapeape:5]

Annywhoo, this is is actually not the most expensive GPU to date, especially since it's 2 ;)  , but actually some of the GF7800GTX-512/Ultra cards were going above $1,200 in the US due to shortage it was insane, and then there were the platinum special box X1900XTX cards that came in their own briefcase, they were some ungodly price which I can't remember other than it made me think the briefcase should've had 'Idjit' stamped on the side of it.

It's funny considering the prices of those things, talking about how rational it was that a GF7800Ultra [launch named GTX-512] launched above $700, while the X1800XT was between $600-700, so it's wasn't 'so bad' and in line with the competition (meanwhile forgetting two GF7800GTs in SLi destroyed them both on performance and price) and here people were talking about how the HD5870 is overpriced, the HD5970 is overprice, etc. :heink:
