The ASUS M4A89GTD (890GX) lists 2000, 1333, and 1066Mhz as the compatible RAM. Can I use 1600Mhz RAM? Seems like I've heard that's possible but searches have been inconclusive.

Also, anything to watch out for when buying an "Open Box" motherboard from Newegg? I ask because it's something like $35 off the price of a new board.
Thanks,
Matt

Hi newcomer and welcome to the Tom's hardware forum.

1- Yeah u can use a 1600MHz RAM but for that specific speed u need enter to the BIOS and set all the specifications of the RAM manually.
2- A "open box" usually doesn't comes with all the components of a sealed box, IMO is better go with the new one since u get all te warranty of the products

I have the same board with 1800 Kingston Ram that works fine and had allready asked and done extensive research about that issue.Anything above 1066 and below 2000 is acceptable ddr3 everyone I talked to said.
