Planning on a build with an Antec 300 Illusion case which has a bottom mounted PSU location.

I'm also considering a OCZ PSU (I want to go modular)

OCZ ModXStream Pro OCZ500MXSP 500W ATX12V V2.2 / EPS12V SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified Modular Active PFC

The above products are very well priced but some of the reviews mention that the cables on the OCZ (especially the power cable from the PSU to the MOBO, which is hard wired out of the PSU) are a little short and may not be ideal for a case with a bottom mounted PSU location.

Question is - is it a big deal to use a cable extension for the power cable from the PSU to the MOBO? I'd like to have a clean cable management look (hence the modular) but I don't want to do anything that might endanger the PSU or MOBO.

Or should I just look for a new modular PSU modular longer cables (they all seem to be a lot more expensive than the OCZ? If so, any suggestions?

I read the same thing for my Corsair PSU, and had absolutely no problem with the length of the cable. I don't think it's worth worrying too much about.

Besides, no one is going to see the extension if you need it. The 300 Illusion doesn't have a window...

Thanks for the reply.

I'm not so much worried about the look of the extension, just wondering if anyone had any problems with them. Or if anyone objects to them for any technical reasons.
