Help for read only files and how to change them

Please i have a new flash drive that i want to format. i have not been able to format it as the flash is write protected/ read only. i will appreciate it if you can tell me how to remove the write protection and format it.

First, if it's an SD or other flash memory card (from a digital camera, for example) then make sure its write-protect switch is set to allow writes:

If that doesn't solve the problem, then check to make sure that writing to USB devices isn't disabled in the Registry.
