More about will build work
  1. The only thing I'd say is that 2gb of memory is really cutting it close. Also the 5770 will perform a little better than the 4850 and have dx11, better effeciency, lower heat for 20 more dollars.
  2. Looks pretty good! I'd consider some changes. Here is what I'd consider changing:

    * CPU - $99 shipped! For multitasking and probably better future proofing (if there is such a thing).

Case/PSU combo - ~$135 shipped!! Same price (after MIR's on your build) and has more PSU power too!!
    Antec 300 Illusion/Antec BP550w PSU

RAM - $94 shipped!! Might as well get 4 gb's of RAM, Windows 7 will be a bit snappier and you'll be able to multi-task better with more RAM!!!
    G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9D-4GBRL - Retail

Another thought is if you have a friend that has a .edu email address, you can get Win7 for ~$30!!
