Im currently building a new system and I deiced to go with the i7 990x Extreme Gulftown and I'm looking into getting a cpu cooling kit for it but don't really know what my options are for this specific cpu.

You got that 990x pretty cheap or something? Why not go for the 3rd gen Core i7 Sandy/Ivy instead?

Yes, one of my friends had a 990x sitting in his shop and It was gonna cost me less than a i7 3820 sandy. Also I hear the 3rd gen sandyE really is not a noticable change.

Which like it or not leaves me with more cash in my pocket for cooling and other accessories.

Well I'm still new to the 990x so I haven't overclocked it yet but Im can say within the range of 4.2 to 4.8@max. Soon I will install pumpkit w/radiator. Im currently using a GTX680 which by next paycheck will be getting its twin brother and I was thinking on investing a Koolance VID-NX680 Water Block.
