Hello!

I am looking to upgrade a 2002 Compaq Presario SR1020NX to accept Windows 7, to turn this old PC into a "mean machine".

What specific make / model of motherboard / processor / RAM would you purchase or avoid to accomplish this conversion? Regarding what's on a compatibile list, I'm looking to avoid a component that perhaps is "compatible" but that one of you tried and found to be unsatisfactory, as far as performance is concerned...all suggestions will be welcomed.
Thanks! John F

Any micro atx board will fit your case; you can go with any dual core amd cpu and am2+am3 board to reuse your old ddr2 if that's what you have now. Or get some 1600 ddr3 and go with an am3 board. I like my i3 530 Intel rig, but it's not much faster than the regor 250 and the cpu costs about twice as much.
