Installing an acer p205h monitor

I hooked up this monitor and it stays on for about 3 sec and then goes dark. If I turn it off and then back on it does the same thing.

hooked on what?
on pci-e card or onboard card?
make sure the cable properly inserted...

I hooked it up to my DELL Dimension desktop with the included monitor cable.

u have another monitor?
u can try it, if it work then your acer monitor is in trouble...

My old DELL monitor is dying, but does still work. Must be the new Acer. Guess I will be returning it to Staples! Thanks for your help.
