External HDD 2 2 outputs/inputs

Hey guys, i have jsut bought a 2TB External HDD. i have bought it to implement an ftp server which was succesfull. but now i had the idea to use it as a backup HDD simultaneously. is that even possible? for those who did not udnerstand my situation let me try to explain it in more detail.

I have an HDD which has 1 usb input/output.i want to connect to to my router(ftp server) and to my computer ( for backup) at the same time. is there a device that will let me do that?

You can't do that with a simple external drive connected via USB or eSATA. You need a NAS device which shares it's files to multiple clients via a network connection.

ah so crap. one last thing if i can ask. i need to configure my second router to allow it to access the public ip provided by the isp to share my ftp server on the second router publicly( WAN). any one knows how that can be done?
