PLS help me with my screen resolution!

I just reinstalled my windows from windows vista to windows 7 and the problem is that before on windows vista i used to connect via hd cable the laptop to the hdtv and the resolution was great. But now with windows 7, the picture isnt on the whole screen, the letters are too small, when i enter the internet the letters are small and the picture isnt great. I installed all the drivers I found in my laptop site and i tried everything but it just doesnt work. My laptop is hp pavillon dv6 ( i downloaded the drivers for windows 7 from hp site for this laptop). Pls tell me how to get the graphics i used to get on my vista! Ty in advance.
