I have a 500gb, a 250gb, and a 200gb HDD available to use in my computer. What would be my best options for using these? Currently everything is on a single partition on the 500gb hard drive. I also plan on adding a 2nd operating system onto one of the smaller hard drives as a partition.

If you don't already have an external drive for backups, then purchase an external USB case and use one of the drives for backups.

IDE or SATA?
I would not bother with partitioning!

All SATA drives. And depending on how I split up my stuff on the drives I'll keep the 2nd OS on the hard drive by its self.

200 and 250GB drives for seperate OS's and 500GB as data drive is what I would do.
