Hey,

I got a question about the amd phenom II x4 series.
Is there any difference between the phenom II x965 and the phenom II z965?
The list of supported cpu's from my motherboard only has the phenom II z965 on it.
Will the cpu run on my motherboard?

Motherboard:
MSI K9A2 Platinum

Thanks,
JD

It says x955 and z965 not x965. Seems an odd way for them to try to indicate something. Since the actual labels are just 955 and 965. But you misread.

Edit: My mistake I see now in a lower section what you mean. Odd. Doesn't really seem to indicate much. They do have different model numbers though. I wouldn't pay the "x" and "z" any bother. I don't believe upgrading to that specific model will make a difference. I am also curious though the differences between those models:
HDX965FBK4DGM and
HDZ965FBK4DGM

Yeah your right about the models, its pretty weird.
Ill make a post about it on the AMD forums and see what they say.
My 965 will most likely arrive here tomorrow.
Ill install it then and make another reply.

hey, thanks for the reply, i got the CPU running for 2 weeks now and its running perfectly.
At first it was running at 800mhz, just had to update my bios to the 1.9 version and its running at 3.4ghz now.

Thanks
