My 1tb hitachi external hard drive wont let me load my music how do i rectify th

I got a friend to load my 1tb Hitachi hard drive a while back now I am trying to load more music and remove old but it does not let me an error code keeps coming up insead, but my other hard drive works perfectly

If you're trying to get rid of all old data you can re-format the drive from windows disk manager. The wizard will ask if you're making a boot drive, answer "no". Once re-formatted you should be able to write anything you like to the drive.
