sounds odd, does the computer scroll up and down literally on its own with no help what so ever from you? Cause if this were the case i'd say maybe a problem with the keyboard.

But to go both up and down, on it's own Id think the stuck actions would cancel each other out unless they were just randomly firing. Did ya try changing the keyboard?

Perhaps try reinstalling your mouse drivers or download the newest mouse drivers.

Hey I had the same exact problem... this is what you need.
3 Q-Tips, a fillips screw driver and some hand sanitizer.
open you mouse *be careful* and soak the q tips in sanatizer. Then wipe the inside of the mouse and let it sit for a while. the wiping is to clean out any dust ect. also take a clean q tip (dipped in sanatizer) and wipe the laser area. Now with the dry clean Q-tip re-wipe the entire inside of the mouse; lens first and close it up and you are good to go!!!

-Knowledge obtained for experimenting with my own mouse:wahoo:

I'm pretty sure you've already solved this problem, aha.
But, to the people who are indeed having this problem, I had the same one.
I've had my computer for about 3 years, and trust me it does get a little dusty. So all of a sudden a few minutes ago the page just started scrolling up and down, so I go and troubleshoot.
Nothing.
I shortly found out, it wasn't the keyboard, it's the mouse.
So to everyone who has a laptop, the reason the page may be scrolling up and down on it's own is because there's dust or maybe crumbs under the buttons.
Just take something that's sharp and thin and kinda dig in there. ( i.e tweezers, a needle that you use for sewing, the led from a mechanical pencil, the sharp side of a push pin, a baby pin, a twisted paperclip that's formed into a long stick-like figure, the back of an earring, a nail used for hammering )
Or, you can just beat the crap out of the bottom of the laptop while it's upside down, which won't do any good.
Anyways,
Keep doubletapping or pressing the left button until it works again.
Sorry for the long reply.
You're Welcome~

I occasionally have this problem and I just "restart". The computer defaults and the problem is resolved. But, to say I know what causes it in the first place, I do not. Given that it only happens every once in awhile, I haven't put much effort into figuring out why it happens but for me, a simple reboot does the trick.

I've just had this problem, and I fixed it somehow, I'm posting it in case someone there is searching for another solution.
My problem was that the pc scrolled everything down and to th right wherever that option was available. Even whenpressing control on a explorer it would shrink the page down, just like the combination CTRL + minus key does.
I had tried unplugging the keyboard , restarting, restoring the windows system, unplugging my wireless mouse, etc. I had left the Volume bar at the corner activated on purpose to see if it was a keyboard or mouse problem, but even when unplugging both at the same time, I could see it scrolling down so I thought it was weird.
Then I connected another mouse (one with a wire) on the USB port where the keyboard was connected and it stopped acting weird, everything seemed alright. I disconnected and connected my wireless mouse again, and worked perfectly. Connected my keyboard, and no more weird stuff. So my guess is, maybe the PC got confused somehow that made the USB port control mouse/keyboard parameters by itself (????) and when putting another device on the same port that had the problem (the keyboard one) kinda refreshed it and brought it back to work.
Hope this helps to someone!

Had the same problem....page was constantly being scrolled down. It was pretty annoying. I tried removing the keyboard and cleaning it with vacuum. It stopped the problem for like 2 days and then problem resumes afterwards. I tried other stuffs (including updating drives and what not) but to no avail. Just as i was about to give up...i figured since the page is always being scrolled down to end page with a single click, the problem must be emanating from the "end" key and not the "spacebar" or "page down" key. So i pried open the "end' key and sure enough the rubber extension that hold/connects the key to the sensor (or whatever it's called) was "misfitted" and pressed against the sensor causing the page to scrolled to bottom of page. I pulled the rubber out and happily threw it away cause i dnt use that key anyways (you might not have to throw it away if u could place the rubber accurately into its appropriate place). Then i return the "end" key back into its place with a gently push. And this, Ladies and gentlemen was the end of my ordeal. (i apologize for bad English and i hope this helps)

SOLUTION !!! SOLUTION !!!! SOLUTION!!!!!

hey buddy..i had the same problem..n i was fedup ....i couldn't find the solution .....until i did what was

necessary to do .......u could go ahead with all the other solutions found online and if that hasn't worked out this is the final step u need to take ......to get rid of it

what i did:

1) u need to disable the page up and page down key from the keyboard.....(in my case the scroll would go down always so i only disabled the page down button)

2) mind u once u have disabled the particular key ;the key wount work , also u can turn the key back on manually later.....so changes not permanent

3) now u can see the tutorial from this site

link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uId_uyirZU4

4) or follow this steps

1.downlad sharpkeys software (its free and direct download) version 2.1.1

2.install it .....open it (i'm assuming u know u least know that )

3.click on 'add' botton

4.a window 'll pop up, click on 'type keys'

5.press the page up or page down button or both

6.press ok

7.now click on write to registry and voila

its done....

8.just restart the damn pc and the problem should be gone .....

note :this process will disable ur page up/down button bt will also the solve ur problem....so do it at ur own risk (its the hard way bt it works)

ciao!!!
