Hi, i have a Thermaltake Litepower 400w (w0162). It has 5v@25a, 3.3v@18a, 12v1@14a, 12v2@16a, -12v@.03a, 5vsb@2.5a. But now i need a gpu for my rig. My rig-
E5200@3.0
Gigabyte G31M-ES2L
4(2x2)GB DDR2@800
500GB samsung
ASUS DVD-RW
no extra fan or something.
Which gpu will be the best for my psu? I can afford a HD 4830/HD 4770/HD 4850/GTS 250. But personally i want to use GTS 250/HD 4830. But all of those want a minimum 450w PSU. So please tell me which will be the best for my current PSU.
My lcd is LG 20" 1600x900.
Thanks in advance.

I guess I have answered in the other thread in an another section...
"That PSU has enough power on the 12V rails to support the above cards...So go with the the cheaper one- HD 4850/ GTS 250...
And how old is the PSU ? "

And again how old is that PSU ?

The 5750 performs extremely similar to GTS 250.
(but not on par with it, though in some games it do so)

But the 5750 adds DirectX11 and EyeFinity(Display upto 3 LCD's)

I would say you go with 5750 as it uses extremely low idle and load power and will be good for 400W PSU.

GTS 250 will require at least 450W PSU.

So 5750, because

Low power consumption,
DirectX11,
EyeFinity.
New card (will be good for more than couple of years)

I suggest you go for 5750

Hey, i've bought that psu a few weeks ago.
Here i can get-
sapphire gts 250 for $165-170 ,ecs gts 250 for $140 ,
sapphire hd 4830 for $120,sapphire hd4770 for $140,
sapphire hd 5750 for $190...So u can understand why i want go for ecs gts 250 . It has 1yr warrenty. But should i go for ECS?
Or should i go for sappire hd 4770? But i cant go for hd5750 as it's price is too high...

I would go with the 5750.
What type of resolution do you want to play games with? And what is your budget for your graphics card?

If money is a problem, and you want to play at a fairly high resolution(not too high though), then I would recommend a HD4770. I would rather go for a 4850, which is around the same price as the 4770, but has more oomph!
If there is no monetary issue, than go for the HD5750...

Yeah, i am on a tight budget and 5750 is out of my range. I can buy hd4850/4770/gts 250.

A) i can go for ecs gts 250.($140). But i dont know much about 'ECS'.

B) if i go for gts 250 , will my psu be able to run it?

C) i can go for sapphire hd4850 @$160. But again the same psu issues.

D)my resulation is 1600x900.

but what about the psu issues?
Will my thermaltake 400w run gts 250?
And about the brand 'ECS' ? As its not a famous brand, Should i go for that ecs gts 250?

Thanks a lot for ur helps....But i bought that psu only a few weeks ago and i dont want to buy a new one. . , , , and it's my main question
CAN MY 400W RUN GTS 250?
As it has 12v1@14a and 12v2 @ 16a and i dont have many components.
Or 4770 as its not power hungry.

Well,
I calculated it and guess what

E5200@3.0
Gigabyte G31M-ES2L
4(2x2)GB DDR2@800
500GB samsung
ASUS DVD-RW
GTS 250 1 GB

You are good to go

That setup will use 381W at extreme load.

Which means you are good to go
