Possible to have dual channel with different brands?

Hello everyone. I have a compaq cq5320f with a Nvidia chipset on the mobo. It came with a 2 gig micron 1033 ddr 3 mem stick and a 1 gig samsung 1033 ddr3 mem stick. I replaced the samsung with a kingston value ram 2 gig 1003 ddr mem stick with slightly different frequency and latency settings. CPU-Z and my bios are showing dual channel usage but I wonder if it really is operating in dual channel mode and if I'd even notice the difference? Window 7s home premium 64 bit os with an ati 5570 gpu and an amd x2 240 cpu btw. Thanks in advance to the mem gurus on the board.

IT is, if one of your ram is slowest, the other will work as slow as that is.

Thanks thats good enough for me. And the settings are VERY slightly different.
