I am having troubles deciding what will be the right gaming board:
Asus MAXIMUS III FORMULA Motherboard - Intel P55 Express, Socket LGA1156, 2133MHz DDR3, RAID
Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R Motherboard - Socket 1366, ATX, Audio, PCI Express 2.0, USB 3.0, RAID, SLI, CrossFire
I plan on using it for Flight Simulation games such as X-Plane, Flight Simulator X, Sims 3, and photoshop.
I heard a lot of good things about the maximus III formula in its reliability and performance, but on the other hand, will I be cheating myself out of the X58 boards potentials and taking advantage of what these LGA 1366 boards have to offer over the LGA 1156 boards?
Also, what would be the best processor for either board.
It depends on if you use Photoshop a lot. I'm not sure if FSX uses Hyper Threading from the Core I7. But Photoshop does take advantage of the hyper threading. So if you use it a lot LGA1366 if not then get the 1156.
For the CPU I think
LGA1156: I5 760
LGA1366: I7 930
