Should i buy a 4870 or 5770.which performs better and what is their current price

They perform about the same. 4870 has slightly better performance and is slightly cheaper, and the 5770 uses less power, runs cooler, and supports DX11

I suggest you to go with 5770.

It is around $160 and performs great upto 1920x1200

the 4870 is slowly fading away... but settle with 5770 and be future proof...

Performance is fairly similar between the two cards with the 4870 coming out a little ahead.
The 5770 is much lower power, supports DX11 and has several other nifty features, however.

Current prices from Newegg:
Least expensive 5770: $150
ONLY remaining 4870: $175
Other sites I checked are also lacking in 4870's, seems they may disappear from retail quite soon...

The 5750 is roughly equal to the 4850 performance wise.
It is superior by having support for DX11, eyefinity and lower power usage.
Of the two, I would defiantly recommend the 5750.

Really though, with a $15 price difference between the lease expensive 5750 and 5770, you should be getting the much better performing 5770.

It is wise to invest on 5770/5750 over 4850/4870...Cuz prices are good and newer cards have DX11 and much lower power consumption.

There is scope of improvement in drivers in near future....

You waited until now to tell us you are in india? You could have told me that when i was posting ideas from US retailers lol.

Search ebay international.. or find a retailer in your area.. You wont get as good of a price however.
