I reformatted my hard drive and reinstalled windows XP recently. Since
starting over, there have been a few problems regarding my display
properties.
First, almost every time I bring up that window (right clicking the desktop
and selecting properties), it won't close properly. It either ceases
responding and I have to close rundll32, or I have to ctrl-alt-delete and
close program to get it to go away. It also takes an especially long time to
replace my desktop background, if it manages to at all without stopping
responding.
Second (and I suspect this is related), icons that come directly from
windows XP are all larger than they ever were before. The white X in the red
square at the top right of all windows is much larger than it used to be
(screenshot here: http://s92444649.onlinehome.us/xbox.jpg), and another
example is the icons to choose from when you select "Turn Off Computer" from
the start menu. (screenshot at http://s92444649.onlinehome.us/shutdown.jpg).
The fonts on certain websites are also much larger than they ever were
before, although I have the same screen resolution setting and accessibility
settings.
Does anybody have any idea of what is wrong with my computer? I would
appreciate any help.
