I know this isn't quite the right place, but you would think that "Graphic & Displays" would have a sub-category for displays...

Right now I have two monitors, a Samsung 941bw and a Dell E151FPp. The Dell is close to 10 years old, and has a "warm up" time of about 10 minutes; hence me looking for a new monitor.

Currently I'm looking at two ASUS monitors, and have a budget of ~less than $200.
The VH198T is smaller (19"), but it has an amazing contrast ratio of 10,000,000:1. Also, it is only $130.
The VH2325T is larger (23"), still has a relatively high contrast ratio or 50,000:1, but it can display 1080p. It is $180.

I often use the computer for watching movies/TV, but mostly it's for schoolwork (LaTeX, etc) and basic internet surfing.

So is the extra screen real estate worth it? Does the better contrast ratio make that much of a difference? Is there anything else in the price range with similar specs that would be better?
