I just want to ask a simple question.
Is there any difference in performance between a single 4 GB RAM and 2*2 GB RAM??

Yes, only if dual channeling is supported by your mobo. in dual channel mobo having 2x2gig rams would fair better than alone 4gig ram. pair 2x4gig rams and you don't need anything else .
