Max amount of memory?

since AMD motherboard's only support dual channel acrhitecture ( i think) does this mean you can have a max of 8 gigs? or can you have more? since my mobo says max of 16 gigs (i'm sorta confused please help)

Modules also come in 4GB versions so with 4 slots at 4GB you would have 16GB. !!

You are limited by your motherboard initially,
if it says supports 16Gb, thats the maximum it can utilise
As Jd says you could buy 4Gb sticks but realistically, what are you going to be running that needs that much Ram?
4Gb is plenty for most gaming and applications, if you get into heavy sound/video editing you'll benfit from 8+Gb
