That PSU is most likely junk, I wouldn't build a new pc with it. ECS is a cheap mobo company, I haven't seen any reviews of that particular one but I wouldn't use it personally. And the hard drive combo with it is a caviar blue. Not a particularly good hard drive. The Samsung Spinpoint F3 is the best mechanical hard drive right now.

If gaming was the priority, then you'd try your best to get a HD 5850. Otherwise, it's low/mid-end gaming build that could have been better. Also, choice of 965BE is as retarded as i5 750 for a budget of under $1000 including the OS. Gaming doesn't need the fastest cpu on earth. Ram is overkill.

i just want to say i was able to get the 5850 into the build could you tell me if my monitor is okay or suggest one that may be better but keeps my build with shipping under 980 (right now its 912)

I couldn't find how much shipping from the site with the monitor you listed was, but assuming you had included the price of that monitor with your $912, drop that one and get this instead. It has a better resolution.

If the $912 was without the monitor, honestly I would lower the system specs and get a better monitor. Unless your plan is to start with a smaller monitor and upgrade later, which is what I did. For $60 I would check out ebay and craigslist as well.

sorry about broken link here is a new one:
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Toshiba+-+Satellite+Laptop+with+Intel%26%23174;+Core%26%23153;+i7+Processor+-+Quantum+Black/9705203.p?id=1218154377801&skuId=9705203&st=toshiba%20a505&cp=1&lp=4

Also i would like to apologize. i made it unclear what the total price was. Its 912 before the monitor. I have also been looking at craigslist as you suggested(i do plan to upgrade. http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=1740-R
I just don't have much money to spend at the moment on anything but the build which i plan to future proof to use as long as possible. )

Not a bad laptop. Personally I have always preferred to have a very small laptop for on the go stuff, and a desktop for gaming. However, I feel your pain, in college all I had was a laptop and no desktop, and also no money:) It's hard to pick, but nowaday's I prefer desktop's based totally on performance. If I was younger and could only pick one...hard to say, as I used to take my laptop to my friends houe and rock some Counter Strike all nighters.

all right i know you said squeeze the trigger but today when i checked my cpu mobo combo i found that it was raised. I changed a shitload up and got it about $40 cheaper than it would have been including shipping. Here is what i have. The things i am worried about are motherboard and power supply.
