I have multiple disks in my XP Pro box, and I have set up a 3GB partition on
which I want to store nothing but the operating system files. I am having
trouble with file growth on this drive (as it seems that my temporary
internet files are all stored there for my users, as are all other temporary
files...) I have set the home path for my users to the D: drive (the drive I
want all of my Program Files and user files to be stored) but it doesn't seem
to make a difference.

My fundamental question is this:

How do I configure my system so that I can store nothing but the absolutely
essential operating system files on my C: drive (primary parition on my
primary hard disk) and store EVERYTHING else on my D: drive (secondary
partition on my primary hard disk.) I would like to trim my C: drive files
down to the leanest possible configuration (right now, there is almost 2GB
stored on it...) I want to set the system up so that the default Program
Files directory is in fact D:\Program Files and not C:\Program Files. I want
all of my user data on the D: drive. I want any and all non-operating system
files on the D: drive.

I am pulling my hair out about how to do this, and have dug through numerous
books to no avail (although to the detriment of my wallet!). I now throw
myself upon the wisdom of this newsgroup with the foreknowledge that someone
out there is sure to be able to help me. Please let me know how I can do
this, or point me to a source of information (please...not another book
purchase!) I greatly appreciate your help.
