I am no techie. I am buying a new computer. I can choose a video card with either VGA and TV output or DVI and TV output. No option for VGA and DVI together. I have an older Sony G500 CRT monitor I still want to use until it fails, then go to a flat panel screen. What should I choose for a video card?

Most cards that have DVI ports come with a DVI to VGA adapter. DVI is a digital signal and VGA is analog. The DVI ports on most cards also have the analog pins for the adapters, you can not go backwards, ie VGA to DVI. So get the DVI and check if it has an adapter, if not you can always buy one online for a few dollars.

Thanks. I appreciate you taking the time to help me. After all was said and done, I got a DVI card and ended up also getting a new flat screen monitor - Dell made me an offer I couldn't refuse!
