Approximate date: 02/10/10
Budget: ~$800 slightly flexible if the upgrade is justified
System usage: Gaming a must, HD video a possible after thought
Not required: Keyboard, Mouse, OS
Preferred website: Newegg, but could be swayed by superior total purchase price
Parts preference: I'm partial to Intel CPU, ATI video card and anything ASUS.
Overclocking: Maybe, but not too important
Crossfire: No, just looking for a cheap but well performing second video card for secondary monitor movies/etc
Monitor resolution: Running native resolution full HD movies would be swell.
Additional comments: Haven't built a system in 5 years so I'm way out of the game and would love to hear any and all opinions by hobbyists who dig this kind of thing.
Recommendations welcome for a good monitor, but it's not counted toward the ~$800 tower.
I'd like a motherboard with a little future proof to it, but seeing as how I don't buy a computer unless my previous one is 2-5 years old it may be a non-issue. I just suffer until I can't take it anymore usually.
Sidenote: I have like three years of gaming to catch up on as my current rig is old as dirt, so take that into consideration. I'm not wanting to build a PC that will play every new game at full resolution and texture detail for the next n years.
