Not all memory working

Recently I noted that my pc performance has been slowing down. I noticed that the gadget that I have on pc shows only 4.5GB of ram with a utilization of about 53%. I have 6GB of ram installed. When I go to system performance all 6GB show up but it also says on 4.5GB are being used. Need some ideas on how to trouble shoot and our any body dealt with this before.

Go to msconfig>boot>advanced options and make sure "maximum memory" is unchecked.

THANKS! That did the trick, but what is up with the max mem, why does it not use all the ram? Thanks again!

Max memory limits the usable RAM to a specific amount(In your case it was 4.5GB), so disabling it, will let you use all of your RAM.
