I recently got a free Toshiba Portege 7200CTe that appears to have a
dead hard drive (locks when doing a surface scan from SCANDISK in DOS
and hangs when trying to install 98SE or XPpro)

I've tried to do my homework and it appears that any modern generic
2.5" hard drive (9.5mm height) will fit/work. Before I run out and get
a new 60GB hard drive is there anything I should know or be on the
lookout for? I will probably buy via internet and don't want to go
through the hassle of a return if it can be avoided. Also, will I need
to do a BIOS patch/flash for the larger drive to work (stock drive is
11GB I think...)?

Thanks in advance,
-Mike
