Hello,my brother plugged out my external hard drive while i was taking off the bit lock. the drive is currently saying its empty but when u open it your seeing the folders n documents. but nothing is opening with non of the programs on my pc. need help asap.

A couple of things to try. First if you right click on a document, do you get a dialog box that includes "open with?" If so, you may need to re-associate all of your file types.

If not, you may need to take ownership of the files and folders again, in Windows 7 use this GUIDE, in XP use this ONE.
