I went to the line and read the overview of the cpu and it does sup[port virtualization. Iam still looking for a way to turn it on. ACER BIOS will will allow turn on, but acer technicians will for a fee assist me in turning it on.

The 5517 (which as I noted above, appears to support hardware virtualization under *Ubuntu 9.10) I bought last month uses BIOS ver. 1.09 (2009/12/14)
Which BIOS version (and for that matter which wi-fi card: Atheros or Broadcom?) does your 5517-5136 have?
