I was wondering if I can put a graphic card in my PC which came defaulted with a Intel Chipset setup, is that possible, and whats the effects of the install if so.

You can but we need to know what motherboard and system specs about your computer in order to privide you with an appropriate card that will fit.

The benefits you will gain are a better picture quality, higher textures, smoother performance, playable on a higher screen resolution and such.

Mostlikely you will need to also upgrade your PSU since you mentioned the computer only had integrated video.
