Buying Used SSD and redirect files to HDD

There is a man in my area selling 250GB SSD Samsung for 100 dollars. Is it safe to buy used SSD's? Thanks
EDIT:
Is it possible to have the computer set up so that the My Music, DOcuments, and Videos etc. are in a separate HDD to save space on the SSD?

More about buying redirect files
  1. SSDs only have so much data that can be written to them in their lifetime and without knowing how much data he wrote to the drive it may not be the best idea, but the price is right.
  2. Since it is a used SSD there is no warranty. If something goes wrong you are on your own.
