I just got a new graphics card after sending back the 4850 which I wasn't satisfied with because it overheated and caused MW2 to crash. However, now I have a new 5770 card and it seems to work well in games, but when I am in the windows environment and watching videos such as on Youtube at full resolution, I get horizontal streaks appearing across the screen. I have downloaded the latest drivers and have tested the card with and without the ATI overdrive. I'm not sure what I can do. Any suggestions?

I haven't tried it in another computer. The flickering ALWAYS happens when I am watching video fullscreen. The lines appear flickering at the top area of the screen and never at the bottom.

then try it in different machine so we know whether the card is broke or not...

What I don't understand is if the card is broke then it should not work at all. Yet it works fine in games. But when playing videos the same problem appears.

even when the card is dying or broke, it still can run but not properly, just like what happened to u...

So just an update. I haven't tried it in another computer yet, but I have a temporary fix for this issue. I stumbled on this fix after just playing around with the settings and then trying everything I could think of.

First, I play a video in Windows Media Player for a couple of seconds. Then I keep WMP open (which is crucial). After that, I can play any videos in Youtube or the other video player I use (GOM) and the flickering has vanished :) ! The flickering comes back immediately as soon as I close WMP. This is so bizarre!! Anyone have a comment as to why this is happening?

Hi sjones,

I had similar problem where my second monitor would flicker and I would also get this problem occasionally on my main screen.
I resolved it when I installed the drivers from this site - Powercolor
I had installed the latest ATI drivers but it still happened.

Make sure you run it in Administrator mode.

Hope this helps.

Cheers.
