What is the best newegg buy under $200

I am currently considering HIS H487Q1GH Radeon HD 4870 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card for a standalone card for a new system and was wondering if this was the biggest bang i will get for my buck? I am replacing a 512Mb 9500gt i recently got for christmas.

  1. I just noticed that i can pick up a 5770 for roughly the same price (manufacturer of the card is gigabyte) so i am not sure which is better since the 4870 has better benchmarks but the 5770 has dx 11, any advice would be extremely helpful.
  2. the 5770 will improve as drivers mature, so personally i would choose it over the older 4870.

DX11 also seems very promising, not only in improving visual fidelity, but in improving performance.
  3. I have added the 5770 to my cart and will purchase soon just want to make sure it will fit into an Antec Three Hundred Illusion Black Steel ATX Mid Tower case, any idea?
  4. i don't know for sure im afraid. i believe the 300 has enough clearance, as its a pretty good case. but i don't know the exact dimensions.

The 5770 is NOT a long card, ant that is a mid tower case. You will have no issues.

For $200 you can also get a 4890 or an OCed GTX260, both outperform the 5770 if you don't mind a DX10 card. I believe the 5830 comes out on the 25th which is only a few days. It might be worth waiting as I think it should fill in the gap between the 5770 and 5850. should be priced around $200 or slightly over, but would potentially be your best buy.

PS, the 4870 is overpriced almost everywhere I look. I wouldn't buy it for anything over $140.
