I am currently considering HIS H487Q1GH Radeon HD 4870 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card for a standalone card for a new system and was wondering if this was the biggest bang i will get for my buck? I am replacing a 512Mb 9500gt i recently got for christmas.

The 5770 is NOT a long card, ant that is a mid tower case. You will have no issues.

For $200 you can also get a 4890 or an OCed GTX260, both outperform the 5770 if you don't mind a DX10 card. I believe the 5830 comes out on the 25th which is only a few days. It might be worth waiting as I think it should fill in the gap between the 5770 and 5850. should be priced around $200 or slightly over, but would potentially be your best buy.

PS, the 4870 is overpriced almost everywhere I look. I wouldn't buy it for anything over $140.

I just noticed that i can pick up a 5770 for roughly the same price (manufacturer of the card is gigabyte) so i am not sure which is better since the 4870 has better benchmarks but the 5770 has dx 11, any advice would be extremely helpful.
