Recently I re-installed a fresh copy of windows 7 onto one of my two hard drives due to a virus my computer had contracted. However after re-attaching my internal 2tb hard drive I can no longer access the files through windows explorer. Windows recognizes the drive and even displays the correct amount of free space left on the drive; I can also access folders and open files by typing in the directory even though they don’t appear in windows explorer.

I would like to avoid reformatting if possible as I have a lot of files I need on this drive.

Thanks in advance.

When you look at the drive in disk management does it have a drive letter assigned?

That is not an uncommon issue when doing a reinstallation. Glad it worked out well and remember to back up if you really like those files. :)
