So I have an older socket 775 motherboard with 4gb (2 x 2gb) patriot memory now...the memory is starting to have problems and I'm trying to purchase some corsair to replace. however, the memory I have now is 1.9v...everything I can find is the 1.65v for i5 & i7 machines. Can I effectively use this ram on the older 775 motherboards?

motherboard: XFX 790i ultra
CPU: QX9770

Solution
Simple answer is Yes. Your motherboard should recognize the ram and adjust the voltage. DDR3 dual channel is the same for a 775 as a 1156 its all 240pin. The newer stuff is simply more efficient.
